It’s with sadness and love that the family of Gerry White announced her death on February 8, 2024.
Norma Geraldine Turley Hite Jensen White was the first child born to Gilbert M. Turley and Myrtle Victoria
Yorgason Turley McPhie on January 13, 1946, in Ogden, Utah. She’s survived by husband Gordon White, sisters
Carol Hines of Reno and Lynnea Stokes of Plain city, daughter Shannah of St. George and grandchildren
Makelle, Kendyll, Brendan and Jayden, and other nephews, nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by
her parents, nephew Andy Hines and brother Merrell Turley.
Gerry attended Mount Fort Junior High graduating from Ben Lomond in 1964, and Weber State College of
Cosmetology. Gerry was known for her debating skills and as Drum Major of the marching band. She was a
proud charter member of the Gramercy Avenue Gang.
As a cosmetologist, she styled hair at the Bon Marche salon and later at her home-based salon. She loved
her “ladies” that came for their weekly wash and set while they caught up on their “Soaps”.
Gerry enjoyed bowling, knitting, sewing, hunting and was an avid and well-respected golfer. Gerry served as
the first president of the Mt. Ogden Golf Course Ladies Association but spent most of her playing time at
El Monte where she won the club championship twice. She missed golfing as her health waned.
Gerry was very conversational and had a wealth of stored information to share. There wasn’t a Jeopardy
question she couldn’t answer. Her heart was full when she was around people.
As a sister, Mom, Grandma, relative and friend, Gerry’s death leaves a hole in our lives. Thank you to the
staff at Auberge Assisted Living for caring for her with kindness, compassion, and love. She adored you
all.

Gerry loved Taco Time. In lieu of flowers, eat a crisp bean burrito and remember her with a smile.
